Campsite WiFi is the thing most tourers end up fighting. It is shared, it slows down at exactly the hours you want it, and on a lot of sites it does not reach the far pitches at all. A mobile internet system replaces it with a connection of your own: a router with a data SIM, and in most cases an antenna mounted outside the vehicle so the signal is not trying to fight its way through insulated walls.
There are two ways to buy from this range, and it is worth knowing which one you are looking at before you compare prices. A kit includes the router. An antenna set does not: it is meant for owners who already have a portable router with TS9 antenna sockets, or who are upgrading an older Falcon system. That is why two products can look almost the same in the photographs and sit a long way apart on price.
4G still does most of the work. The hardware costs less, the networks reach far more of the continent, and for browsing, email, video calls and streaming to a couple of devices it is genuinely enough. 5G earns the difference where you spend your time in and around towns, work online, or have a household of devices sharing one connection.
Touring across Europe changes the tariff question rather than the hardware question. A domestic EU tariff roams across the EU at home rates, but nearly all of them apply a fair use limit to roaming data, and a household that streams in the evenings can reach it well before the end of a long trip. Journeys outside the EU are a separate matter again: where your tariff does not fall under roam like at home, for example in Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom or much of the Western Balkans, a local data only SIM or an eSIM profile is usually the cheaper answer. The routers here take a data SIM, and several also support eSIM, so the tariff can change without the hardware changing.
Fitting is something you do yourself. The portable antennas hold on a window with a suction cup or a magnet and need no permanent fixing at all. The roof antennas use a single hole and one cable run down to a docking station inside the vehicle. Nothing here needs a workshop, and nothing here has to be undone before you sell the van.
If you are not sure where to start: choose a kit if this is your first system, and an antenna set only if you already own a router with external antenna sockets.
You need a router with a data SIM, and almost always an antenna outside the vehicle. The router makes your own WiFi network inside the van; the antenna is what gets a usable signal to it, because an insulated body is very good at keeping mobile signal out. A phone hotspot works in strong signal and gives up quickly in weak signal, which is where a good many pitches are. Start with our 4G line-up if you want the least expensive way in.
4G is available across far more of the continent, the hardware costs less and it handles browsing, email, video calls and streaming without complaint. 5G is worth paying for if you work online, if several people stream at once, or if you tour mostly in and around towns, where the coverage is concentrated. Every 5G product here falls back to 4G automatically when 5G is not there. Our 5G line-up sets out the three systems.
In good signal, a router on its own is fine. In weak signal it is the antenna that changes the result, not a faster router, because the limit is what reaches the vehicle in the first place. Moving the antenna outside the body, or at least onto a window, is the single biggest improvement available. If you already own a portable router with TS9 antenna sockets, look at the antenna-only options rather than buying a second router.
Not unless you want a permanent roof installation. The portable antennas mount on a window with a suction cup or a magnet, and the no-drill combo antenna uses suction cups or a self-adhesive plate, so it also holds on textured panels. The roof antennas do need one hole, sized for a single cable, and they are designed so an owner can do the job without specialist tools. Whichever route you take, nothing has to be cut out of the vehicle again later.

Just received my Falcon Mobile WiFi Router 4G Combo Deluxe and what a joy to behold, from unboxing the hard padded storage case containing all we need to get on line in our caravan, the ease of setting up was fantastic within 5 mins of plugging in the power cable I was on line. Can recommend this piece of kit.Posted on Google![]()

Posted on Google![]()

As well as excellent products, Falcon’s customer service is second to none. They are very responsive and helpful. I use two products: the wireless reversing camera and the 5g mobile WiFi router. I am very, very happy with both. The products are of excellent build quality and you feel that Falcon really understands their market by including useful features and equipment. It’s a pleasure buying from them and using their products.
